After reading the manual thoroughly, I wound the bobbin, inserted it and sewed my first seam ever! I have since used this machine to sew several garments and do alterations and it just powers through them! I made a dress last year with a Bemberg rayon lining and the M-U sewed it like a champ, without needle-snagging or pulling at all. I haven't tried sewing knits yet (and I probably won't as I prefer crisp wovens anyway), but from what I've heard, it works fine on these as well. I paid $60 plus shipping on eBay, and then had to buy the correct manual as my seller screwed up and sent me the wrong one! I also ordered more presser feet (including the invisible zip foot) and extra bobbins from Sears over the phone. I haven't had the machine serviced yet, but it's probably time... What Chickey17 does not like about this machine I actually love everything about this... See less

I hardly ever write reviews but I love this item so much I'm making an exception. We finally need a new one since a front wheel is starting to bow, but I am probably not exaggerating to say we've pushed it 50-70 miles in all of our trips to groceries stores (in NYC, where we walk everywhere). I've had this bike for about a month and one half now. The bike is solid and the action is smooth and quiet. (It is so quiet, that I can workout without turning up the sound on the TV.) You feel very secure and can concentrate on your workout (or the music on your iPod or whatever's on TV) without the sensation that the bike might tip over (or fly apart) at any second. The resistance levels and the built in programs give enough variety that almost anyone should be able to create a work out that is appropriate. For comparison purposes, my "normal" workout on the tread mill covers about 5.3 miles and takes 50 minutes (including warm up and cool down). The "equivalent" workout on the bike is the "pyramid" program at level 10, for 50 minutes. With 16 levels of resistance, there are 6 steps up from there for me. The heart rate program allows you to workout for your desired time while the machine automatically varies the resistance level to maintain your heart rate within your targeted... See less
