Welcome to the Kyle David Miller Foundation. Kyle was an amazing, special little boy who filled the lives of those who knew him with overwhelming joy and love. He was incredibly compassionate and gentle, with a deep love for all animals and a laugh that could make anyone smile. Kyle's life was tragically cut short when his seat belt failed after an incompetent driver ran a red light and hit our vehicle. The loss of our son Kyle was and still is more devastating than words can bear. But, through our love for him, we have created this Foundation to honor his memory and promote driver and car seat safety awareness. Kyle brought so much happiness and love into our lives and we want to share his love with the world with hope that we can prevent a tragedy such as this from happening to others. If my little blog only does one productive thing, I hope it helps readers realize how truly toxic fat talk is — it hurts you emotionally, spiritually, and physically. Recently, I stumbled upon the Gives Me Hope website, and I was inspired to start my own random act of kindness crusade — Operation Beautiful. Operation Beautiful is simple: all you need is a pen and a piece of paper. I’ve begun leaving positive messages on the mirrors of public restrooms — at work, at the gym, at the grocery store. I scribble down whatever comes to mind — “You are beautiful!” or “You are amazing just the way you are!” My goal is to leave as many Operation Beautiful notes as I can. Its capital, Astana, is one of the two coldest capitals in the world. Like many other countries, there are few resources available for homeless animals, despite the fact that stray dog and cats populations are large. Stray dogs and cats must suffer through harsh sub-Siberian winters, which commonly see temperatures of -20 to -40 degrees Fahrenheit. Additionally, street dogs and cats are killed by “Zhevodors”, persons who capture and kill stray animals. They are paid a small sum for every animal killed and their employment is the current strategy for keeping stray animals off the streets. Many dogs who do have a home are chained outside 24 hours a day as guard dogs and receive little veterinary care, socialization, or human contact. The challenges here are numerous.
