Nad's - Ingrow Solution

See this at: amazon.co.uk| Added on 12/07/09

I was not impressed with this. I bouight it to try and get rid of the ingrown hairs I can get after waxing my bikini line, and it didn't make them any better. I used it exactly as recommended, but I got no results whatsoever. The spray smells very strongly of chemicals (I know it is a bottle of chemicals) which was overpowering. It stung a lot too. But apart from the stinging sensation after applying it and the heavy aroma, I might as well have been using a bottle of water.

Thanks for the review. You could probably use the main ingredients which are witch hazel and aloe vera and get the same results cheaper. If it worked that is. Although they do say to use it daily until symptoms subside.

Thanks. I bought some aloe vera gel after I used this and I do have good results with that, but it's more soothing and calming than preventing ingrown hairs. The Bliss Ingrown Hairs Eliminating Peeling Pads (think that's what they are called) are so good though, I've reviewed them in this list, somewhere!

Frizz-Ease - Original...

This outstanding formula infused with silk proteins delivers a layer of crystal clear gloss for amazing shiny frizz free results. Ideal for straight and curly styles. The result: polished, glossy & smooth hair.

Comments (1)

I can't work out why I've never tried this before. It's a tried and tested formula that works wonders for frizzy hair and it's been around for ages, yet, I've only just bought a tube. Where has this been all my life?! I can only think that because my hair was very oily (yet frizzy at the same time) as a teenager I used to hate serums and excessive hair products. Nowadays my hair is less greasy and I feel a lot better about using products. This makes my hair as smooth as silk and I have seriously never had such shiny hair, apart from when my amazing hairdresser blow dries it. When I blow dry my hair now, it's a lot easier to get it relatively straight, it's a lot less frizzy and more manageable all round. There's two things I'm not so keen on. One being the fact you have to apply it to soaking wet hair. I normally wash my hair, stick it up in a towel, apply my make-up, then (when my hair has dried naturally a bit) dry my hair. No problems though, just have to change my routine a bit. It's worth it after all! It's also worth having to wash my hair more often too. I washed it on Sunday afternoon, for example, and it's now Monday night and it needs washing really, dry hair powder will not save my hair in the morning. Again, not much of a problem. I could put up with this as I love having shiny, silky hair.

I got this as a gift, and I totally forgot I had it. Which might explain why it melted slowly instead of fizzing like ballistics normally do. It was nice though, the scent was complex. I couldn't pin down single scents, but I liked the scent. But rose, jasmine, gardienia, grapefruit and fennel is a nice combination! The gold glitter in the water was pretty and it stuck to my skin a little, but I didn't emerge from the bathroom too sparkly!

Satsumo Santa Ballistic

See this at: lush.co.uk| Added on 12/07/09

Seasonal citrus Santa with reviving orange oils. One of your five a day. (Kidding!)

Comments (3)

This was huge, much bigger than a regular ballistic. It smelt so good, very citrussy and uplifting. I used this on a Sunday morning, I'd had a huge lie-in and didn't want to get ready for work, so I thought this might wake me up a bit while still keeping me all relaxed and happy, and it did just that. It's gorgeous! The water turned a watermelon-red and the orange-y scent made the whole bathroom smell festive. I'd buy this again.

Good to know! I'm always excited tot ry new things from Lush, especially when others have loved them.

Glad to help! It's one of the best ballistics from Lush I've tried in a while.

Riz - Mattifying Papers

See this at: uk.loccitane.com| Added on 12/04/09

The indispensable touch-up beauty tool for any moment of the day! These oil-blotting sheets, infused with powdered red rice from Camargue, minimize shine and leave a velvety finish, without stripping

Comments (1)

I used to use a cheaper version of these, from the Boots Expert range, but I was persuaded to buy these last time I was in a L'Occitane store. The salesgirl was very helpful and very persuasive! These were more expensive, but work much better. The ones I used to use were thinner and I found I had to use two or three at a time, but with these, one is sufficient. I keep them in my bag at all times, and when I find my forehead and nose getting a little shiny I press a sheet over my face. It doesn't remove my make-up but gets rid of excess oil, leaving my face matte.

I liked this, but I didn't get a 100% result. It's easy to apply, morning and night, and you have to apply it with a massaging motion to the upper eye area. I think that was the key factor, the massaging. When I tried this technique with Lush eye cream (which is purely hydrating, nothing to do with puffy eyes) I got the same result. The tube didn't last long either. On the plus side, it sinks in very well and made my eye area moist and healthy-looking. It seemed to banish dark circles too. So, mixed reactions really.

Instantly relieves and helps repair dry and chapped lips from first use.

Comments (1)

I am seriously impressed with this. My lips have been chapped beyond belief at the moment. My sinuses are terrible at the moment and I am finding it hard to breathe out of my mouth, especially when asleep. Thus, my lips are hideously sore. My mum bought me this, in the hopes that it would help. And it has. I've only applied it about four times, in a few hours, and my lips are noticeably better. They don't hurt anymore and they look less chapped. You can use it on your nose too when you have a cold and it hurts from blowing it too much. It's not a fruity yummy-tasting balm though, but it does smell nice. I can't describe the scent, apart from that it smells soft. This is like a wonder product.

My best friend had this lip balm when we were at secondary school (but back then it came in a glass pot) and we were not very impressed back then. I'm not impressed much now, either. When melted on my lips, I like it, nay, love it. It's nourishing, and the smell of the tangerine oil is yummy. But getting it out of the pot, for some reason, is a nightmare. I have to scrape it out with my nails, then transfer to my lips. And if I'm cold then getting it to melt can be a problem either.

They don't make this in big enough bottles, I need huge vats of the stuff so I don't run out until next Christmas. It is unashamedly girly, just looking at it you can see that, it's pink and totally glittery. The glitter seems to remain at the bottom of the bottle though, so you never get that much on your skin. It's cleansing, but to be fair, I use this more for the scent. I've even converted my little brother!

Ok, you sold me. I have to try this.

I'm glad ;) More people should use it, I think it would really improve everyone's mood.

What does it smell like? And is the scent strong?

The scent is quite strong, yeah, but not strong enough to bother me. It's strong in a good way! I can't quite work out what it smells of ... a really fruity bubblegum. It's yumminess in a bottle.

Hmm...I may have to smell this before I commit to buying it. (Lush, I will see you in February!)

It's a Christmas-only product, so hopefully they'll still have it in Febuary!

Oh...I'm lame. I read your comment and it totally didn't click that it was a Christmas only product. Maybe I can get my husband to make a trip to Lush before then (since he'll be in Aspen next week) and smell it out for me. He knows what I like scent-wise.

This reminded me of the Creamy Candy bubble bar, but bigger. I got so many baths out of this, perhaps five or so. It created lots of soft bubbles and it made a very girly, luxurious bath. If you like Christmas cake, you'll like this. In fact, I know a couple of people that don't really like Christmas cake, but loved this scent. It's strong though, my fiance detests it, I'm surprised he still kisses me when I'm using this. It's one of the glossiest lip balms I've ever used. My lips can get quite sore at times and when they are sore I can't use lip gloss or lipstick, but I can still have the effect of a lovely clear gloss when using this while still having the benefits of all the nourishing ingredients.

Would love to try this out myself then : D

This smelt like Bucks Fizz, so it really had a party-feel to it. I first used this on Christmas morning and it made my morning very special, we normally travel on Christmas day, but didn't last year, which was weird and this ballistic made me feel a lot more cheerful (I hate changes!) This revived my mind and made me feel a bit more ready for the festivities of the day. This smelt nice, like sweeties. It's a very girly soap. I was a bit dissapointed with the lather-factor though, it took ages of rubbing together in my hands with plenty of hot water to get a slight bit of lather. The scent didn't hang about long either. It's one of the creamiest soaps I've ever used, Lush or otherwise, and the scent lasts and lasts. I like this one by the side of my bath, so I can replace my shower gel with it.

The Cherry Cola shower gel ... what a way to wake up your senses on a morning! I actually enjoyed having to get up early to shower with this waiting for me. The scent was so deeply cherry cola-like, I spent so much time taking deep sniffs from the bottle. I didn't try it as a shampoo or a bubble bath because I simply loved it as a shower gel too much. My skin didn't feel tight, but didn't feel overly nourished afterwards, but with a scent like that, I could cope! It really scented the skin for a few weeks, after I had showered I could smell it on my skin for a few hours, but this effect ran out, or unless my nose became accustomed to it. A little really goes a long way too. Just try not to drink it!

I'm using the Root Beer one at the moment, and while it does smell great, it's not as strong as the Cherry Cola one. A little still goes a long way, so I'd like to think it's economical! This one has also made my skin feel a little tight after showering with it, although this could be because the winter is now approaching and the weather is much colder.

This was quite good. It's a small tube, and it did seem to dry out quite quickly, but for the main of it, it worked. It's easy to apply, just as you would apply mascara. It's a white formula, that basically lengthens and bulks up lashes before you apply your mascara. For my short, straight, thin eyelashes, it was good. It made them longer and a little thicker, but no curlier. Mascara went on well afterwards, as it normally did, and this worked with an Estee Lauder mascara I was using (Voluminious Bold Lifting) and other brands too.

These smelt very strongly of cucumber, not a scent I am a huge fan of, so not sure why I decided to buy these. The price was a factor though, they are cheap, plus they were on offer. You're not paying for extravagant packaging, but for a simple face wipe. They took make-up off okay, as there's always a night here and there where I am too tired to remove my make-up with cleanser and water (alcohol is normally involved!) For the price, they are okay, not amazing, but then again, how much can one expect from a face wipe?!

Comments (1)

This is great stuff! It's like the original Cocoa Butter, but with an added special indgredient. Shimmer! It's not glittery or sparkly, it's very subtle and leaves a sheen on the skin. It's perfect for the party season and is amazing applied on the collarbone, arms, down the centre of the shin. I find it a little too shiny if I apply just this one product as my skin cream, but mixed with another lotion, the consistency of the shimmer is just right. The formula is nourishing though and it still has that unmistakeable Cocoa Butter scent.

Comments (1)

I don't use this cold, like Lush suggests, I don't think my early morning shower in a freezing bathroom with frozen shower gel works in winter somehow! The little pot contains a whole jelly Santa which is quite strongly scented, I found. I'm not keen on the smell, it's a little overpowering for me, and doesn't really smell of strawberry or coconut. I tend to use this in the bath more, as it's just easier when you're not rushing in a quick shower. It lathers up well and makes my skin feel very clean.

Santa's Rice Porridge...

Fruity nutrition for your face, reviving tired, stressed skin on the run up to Christmas Day.

Comments (1)

I used this after I had been ill for just over a week. I'd had no sleep and my skin was dry, dull and quite grey to be honest. Never a good look! Just applying this mask, fresh out of the fridge, was a treat. My skin felt cooled, soothed and it was relaxing. The scent ... almost edible! It reminded me of bakewell tart and marzipan. Yum! The texture was quite thick, not sure if that was just my pot, but applying it was a little tricky. I was left with big lumps of mask on my face that threatened to fall off at any moment, so I had to lie back and stay still ... ! I'm just sad that this is a Christmas special, I'd love this one all year round. My skin looked so much better the day after I used this, bright, radiant and plumped up. My make-up went on better too, as my skin was smooth and was the perfect base. Love it!

The colour of a darkened winter afternoon, this soap is inspired by chilling Russian folk tales and perfumed with fragrant flowers.

Comments (1)

Mine didn't look as extravagant as this, it was just a slab of purpley-blue soap. It's a nice slab of soap though! It smells of white flowers and is pretty decadent I think. It lathers to a luxurious, creamy foam and makes my hands smell divine for ages.

Barry M - Nail Polish -...

Quick-drying nail polish from Barry M. Fashionable colours that follow catwalk trends. Long-lasting, chip-proof polish.

Comments (2)

It's not as bright as the name suggests, more a candy pink. One coat covered most nails reasonably well, although thumb nails and big toenails definitely needed a second coat. Two coats makes the colour even glossier. The colour is very girly and reminds me of Barbie, which is a good thing, right?! It dried well between coats and was easy to apply, as always with Barry M polishes. I'll update when I've had some wear out of this manicure ...

This lasted a good two days, it was just a shame I had to take it off for work! It didn't chip and remained practically perfect. Impressed.

I really like this lip balm. It's buttery and nourishing, but glossy too. So it's perfect for my sore lips (especially bad in winter), I can treat them but keep them looking pretty too - it's not waxy or thick, just glossy and shiny.
