- What is Kaboodle and how does it work?
Kaboodle is a fun shopping community where people recommend and discover new things. To use Kaboodle, you get two buttons in your browser. Whenever you like a product, an article, a picture or any web page, click on the Add to Kaboodle button and it will add it to your personal collection list in Kaboodle. You can create a list on any topic ranging from buying a sofa to planning a vacation or even researching business products or services. You can click on the My Kaboodle button at any time to see all your lists. You can also use Kaboodle without signing up to just see what others are adding to Kaboodle. For further detail, see the Get Started page. You can download the buttons here. - Will Kaboodle always be free?
We intend to keep Kaboodle free forever. We believe that the ads within the Kaboodle product as well as future advertiser-supported features will continue to be beneficial to Kaboodle users and will also pay the rent and wages for the Kaboodle team. - Is there a limit to the number of lists I can have?
There is no limit to the number of lists you can have. We hope you will create a wide variety of Kaboodle lists and that you will keep most of them public so that the entire Kaboodle community can benefit from the work you’ve done. - I got the buttons, but when I click "Add to Kaboodle" nothing happens. What’s up?
Kaboodle uses JavaScript and cookies to work its magic. If "Add to Kaboodle" is not working, even after a brief pause, then JavaScript or cookies are disabled on your Web Browser. If you need help enabling JavaScript or cookies, click the Send Feedback link at the bottom of this page and tell us which browser you’re using and we’ll be happy to give you further instruction. - I don’t want to get any spam. Do you share users’ email addresses with anyone else?
We hate spam, too. We do not share email addresses of Kaboodle users with anyone. The only mail you will receive as a result of registering with Kaboodle will come directly from us. And you’ll be able to opt out of communications from us at any time through a link included on any email we send. - I’m using someone else’s computer. Can I remove the Kaboodle buttons when I’m done?
Yes. It’s very simple to remove the Kaboodle buttons.- From the Start menu, select "Control Panel"
- Double-click on "Add or Remove Programs"
- Scroll down and select "Kaboodle Toolbar"
- Click on "Change/Remove"
- Close all Internet Explorer windows
- Click "Yes" to complete uninstallation
- Why is there now a link to "Compare Prices" next to some of the items on my list?
Kaboodle has partnered with Shopping.com to make it easy for you to get the lowest prices on items you wish to purchase online. To see prices from different online stores, click the "Compare Prices" link wherever it appears and you will be able to see comparison prices from a variety of online merchants. Kaboodle also uses Shopping.com to deliver the most closely related products for items. - I have a website (or a blog) and would like to help my readers find one or all of my Kaboodle lists. Is there an easy way for me to do this?
Yes. Kaboodle offers badges (sometimes known as widgets) that you can quickly create and customize for your blog or website. From the Kaboodle list you wish to highlight, select "Put this list on your blog or website." This will take you to a page where you can customize the layout and colors for your new Kaboodle badge. Kaboodle will then display the code you need in a box. Copy and paste that code into your web page where you want it to appear and that’s it. You now have a new, fun way to share your opinions and expertise with others. - How do I add a slideshow or collage of one of my Kaboodle lists to MySpace, Xanga, Friendster, or LiveJournal, or another website, blog, or social networking profile?
Yes. You can easily add a slideshow of your Kaboodle list, or customized collage view of your Kaboodle list directly onto other sites. To do so, scroll to the bottom of your Kaboodle list (from the view you wish to copy), and click in the box next to "Copy the code for this page" and copy the code to wherever you want it to appear on your site or profile. - How do I make a list private?
In the bar beneath your list title, there is a drop-down menu titled "More Actions." Select "List Settings" and then simply select "Private" as the privacy setting. - Can I use my own words for the description or title of an item rather than selecting one of the choices Kaboodle gives me?
Yes. To use your own words in the description or title of an item, simply type within the box you see on the Edit screen where the current description or title is shown. You can add to an existing title or description or delete and replace it with your own words. - How do I delete a list?
In the bar beneath your list title, there is a drop-down menu titled "More Actions." Select "List Settings" and then click the blue "Delete list" link in the gray bar. - How do I change the title of my list?
In the bar beneath your list title, there is a drop-down menu titled "More Actions." Select "List Settings" and then enter the title you want in the "List name" box and click "Submit" to make the change. - How do I change an existing Kaboodle list into a Wish List or a Top Picks list or a different list type?
In the bar beneath your list title, there is a drop-down menu titled "More Actions." Select "List Settings," then click the button next to the appropriate type in the "List type" area. The choices are "Shopping" (for shopping research and decisions), "Travel" (for trip planning), "Top Picks" (for creating an ordered list of your favorite things where items are labeled #1, #2, #3, and so on), "Wish List" (for capturing things you want and sharing the list with others for coordinated gift-giving), "Collectibles" (for showcasing rare or interesting stuff in your collection), and "Other" (for the hundreds of other Kaboodle uses). - How do I create an item on my list using my own words and pictures from my hard drive?
Click the "Add New Item" link in the bar beneath the title of your list. Then enter title, description, tags and other information as well as up to 4 images. This item will look just like other items on your list. But when clicked, instead of going to some other site on the web, it will lead to the list you've created on Kaboodle. - New items are always added to the top of my lists. Can I change the order of items on my list?
In the bar beneath your list title, there is a drop-down menu titled "More Actions." Select "Reorder List." Then, on the next screen, either drag and drop items or click the up and down arrows to reorganize your list and click "Submit" to make the change. - What are the new views (grid, schedule, slideshow, and collage) in Kaboodle all about?
You now have more choice in how you view and showcase the lists you put together on Kaboodle. In addition to the original "list" view of the items on your Kaboodle list, you can also choose to view them as a grid (for all lists except for travel), a schedule (for travel lists only), a slideshow, or a collage. A collage gives you the most flexibility, allowing you to select which images to show, how much text, size and layout of the images, and colors. For travel lists, the schedule view makes it easy to turn your travel research into a travel itinerary. - How can I customize my collage view layout?
To edit your collage layout, click on the orange "Edit Layout" button from the collage tab on your Kaboodle list. Once in edit mode, you can select a "Quick Layout" or customize your own layout from scratch. Select "Background" and then choose a color to customize the background color. Select "Text Options" to choose how much text to display text colors. To modify the image size and layout, click on the image to do so. To move items around the list, simply drag and drop images where you would like them. - I already have a Wish List on Amazon. Can I import it into Kaboodle?
To import a Wish List from Amazon, use the link on My Kaboodle or click here to get to the same place. Simply enter the e-mail address associated with your Amazon account, select the Kaboodle list where you want to add the items, and click the button to import your Wish List. - After I create a Wishlist, how do I make sure people find it?
From your Wish List, click "E-mail List" in the gray bar beneath your Wish List title. Then on the "To:" line, enter the email addresses of everyone you want to share your Wishlist with (and use a comma after each email address when inviting multiple people). Add any message text you might want to include and then click the "Send" button. All the people on your list will receive an email invitation and will be able to view your Wishlist whether or not they are registered Kaboodle users. - How can I find the Wishlist of someone I know?
Go to any Kaboodle list they’ve created and simply click their username near the top of the list where it says "[username] is kaboodling about:" to see a list of all their public Kaboodle lists. Unless they’ve made their Wishlist private, you should see it among their public Kaboodle lists. - How do I change one of my standard lists to a wish list?
If you've created a list on Kaboodle and would like to change it to a wish list format (which allows users to reserve gifts, along with the ability to set size and color information), click on "My Lists" on the top right of the page. When you've located the list you would like to change, select "Edit" on the right side of the page. In the "List Settings" menu, change the list type to "Wish List" and hit Submit. - When I reserve a gift from someone’s Wishlist, do other people see that I reserved it?
When you reserve a gift from someone’s Wishlist, other gift shoppers who visit the Wishlist see that the gift has been reserved, but they do not see who reserved it. The Wishlist owner does not see any indication that the gift has been reserved. - How do I invite my friends to Kaboodle?
Use the "Tell a Friend" link on the left side of any Kaboodle list or the "Invite new friends" link in My Kaboodle. Anyone you invite will be listed as your friend in Kaboodle once they sign up and you’ll be notified of each other’s activity as you add public items and comments in Kaboodle. - How do I share specific Kaboodle lists with others?
On any Kaboodle list, simply click "E-mail List" in the bar beneath the list title. Enter as many email addresses as you like on the "To:" line (and use a comma after each email address when you’re inviting more than one person). Then type a message if you want and click the "Send" button. - If I want to share my list with friends, do they have to first sign up for Kaboodle?
No. Whenever you share a list with your friends by using the "E-mail List" link they will be able to view the list with one click even if they are not yet registered Kaboodlers. - What are Kaboodle groups?
In Kaboodle, you can now form groups around common areas of interest, your hobbies, passions, school or work groups, family, or friends. Each group will feature a forum where members can discuss topics of interest, relevant Kaboodle lists submitted by individual group members, and a "Group Collection" where group members can submit individual items to a collaborative Kaboodle list. - How do I copy from interesting lists I find in Kaboodle?
Each list and every item in Kaboodle has a Copy link. If you want to copy an entire list or multiple items from the same list, from the drop-down menu titled "More Actions," select "Copy." Select the list you would like to copy to (or create a new list) and the items you would like to copy, and then click "Copy" in the bar beneath the title of the list. To copy just one item from a list, click the "Copy Item" link beneath the summary information for the item. - Is there any way to search for specific lists?
Yes. The search box is available in the upper-right hand corner of every list. - What is the best way to keep track of interesting Kaboodle lists I find?
To keep track of Kaboodle lists you want to visit again and to be notified of new activity on those lists, add them to your Favorites. To do so, go to the list you want to add. In the bar beneath the list title, there is a drop-down menu titled "More Actions." Select "Add to Favorites" and click "OK" to add it to your favorites. This will add the list to your My Favorites list in your left-hand navigation bar under My Lists. You will also see new activity on these lists on your My Kaboodle page and via email if you have email notification turned on in your account settings. - Can I remove a comment once I submit it?
Yes. Once you’ve added a comment, you’ll see the "Delete" link just to the right of any comment you have added. You can click that link at any time to remove a comment. - Can I remove someone else’s comment from my list?
Yes. As the creator of a list, you have the right to delete any comments made by anyone on your list. Simply click the "Delete" link on any comment on your list. - I want my friends to quickly vote on which items on my list they like best, is there an easy way to do that?
Yes. In the bar beneath your list title, there is a drop-down menu titled "More Actions." Select "List Settings." Make sure the list type is something other than "Wishlist" or "Top Picks" and then click the "On" button where it says Item Voting. Your friends will see 5 stars associated with each item and can easily cast their votes. Once anyone has voted, as the list owner you will be able to click the blue link beneath the image for any item and see the details of who has voted and what their vote was. - What is the purpose of the "I like this list" button and why should I click it?
Whenever you find a Kaboodle list you like, you should click the "I like this list" button. This provides feedback that the system uses for determining which lists to show highest in the search results and in other places on the site. - How do I change my e-mail address, password or screen name?
To change your e-mail address, password or screen name, go to "My Account." You’ll see links that allow you to change screen name, password, e-mail address(es) and e-mail notification setting. - Can I have more than one email address associated with my account?
You can have all of your email addresses associated with your account. To add another email address to your account, go to "My Account" and click "Add new email". - How do I cancel my account?
To cancel account, go to Account settings page and click on "I would like to cancel my account at Kaboodle" link to start the cancellation process. - I have a great idea for a feature, how can I suggest it?

Often times, third party security software will affect Kaboodle from working properly. In order to use Kaboodle properly, add www.kaboodle.com to your trusted or approved sites list, and make sure you allow cookies to be set for www.kaboodle.com. If you cannot get the software to work, please use our feedback form and provide us with details of the software you're running (operating system, application, application version number) and we will investivate the issue.
