Why is it gone?

(7 items)

I agree 100% I hate when someone can't buy something on my list because it's gone already!!! : } Posted by kelsjax at 10:10 AM on 11/25/09 Report Spam

I agree. I have so many things that I see and go to the site to look and they're not there anymore. Sometimes I'm like, yeah, ok, but others I get really annoyed that I might have wanted to buy it and can't. I understand the need for new and fresh things, but some things should not be discontinued. So it would be really nice if Kaboodle would look at the sites we link to and flag items which seem to have disappeared (like if the site returns a 404 or redirects you to their homepage). There seem to be a lot of cool items that people keep copying from other people's lists even though they are long gone, which is alright if you're just saying, "I like the style of this item," but not so good if you actually want to buy it. If I had a line of clothes, I would flag certain items as basics or fundamentals, which I would continue to produce for as long as possible (like until the fabric was no longer available). Sure, the cost might go up if it's being made in more limited quantities, and it might be a special order item (not something just sitting on the shelf), but at least you'd be able to get it. Zow....Retail is something I came to know a LOT about in the thirty years I worked in various capacities in the industry. Sadly, retailers, particularly buyers who like and want to keep their jobs must try to frind items that are trendy and nice so people will buy them, BUT then the ideal is to buy JUST enough of each item so the store(s) the buyer works for preferably run out of the product when almost everyone who was going to buy it has made the purchase....or you end up with just a few and those end up being marked down at the end of the season. So actually you are right in that the longer any particular item has been floating around on Kaboodle, the less likely it is you will still be able to find that item to actually buy. This applies to soft goods (clothing, linens, etc)....hard goods (appliances, furniture, electronics to a lesser degree) do not have the same strategy. Your list is nice, a bit sad...but if you have a pic of something you really like...often you can find something pretty similar though it make take a lot of time looking for it. Why is it gone?

I only like to put things on my lists that are available for purchase, but...I only like to put things on my lists that are available for purchase, but there are a number of finds here on Kaboodle that are no longer available from the purveyor. Some of them are just so awesome, that I have to ask why they don't carry it anymore? This is a list to collect those items, ostensibly for future inspiration.See more moreSee less less
